The main role of this materials development engineer is to develop new materials and related processing technologies for applications in 3D printing, in particular material extrusion based (e.g. FDM/FFF) 3D printing. Qualified candidates are highly motivated individuals with strong background in research and development of new polymers and composites, who enjoy working in a highly dynamic, fast-paced and interdisciplinary team environment.
Main Responsibilities
- Identify market needs in terms of new 3D printing materials and related processing technologies
- Design, plan and conduct R&D projects aimed at developing new materials and processing technologies for 3D printing
- Report and communicate results or outcomes of the aforementioned R&D projects both internally and externally
- Able to work with patent agents/attorneys to draft and file patents
- Able to work in teams
Qualifications
- MS or higher in polymer science, polymer engineering, materials science, or related disciplines
- Prior R&D experience, obtained either in a university or corporate environment, is required
- Good communication skills in both Chinese and English
- Good time and project management skills
- Team player
- Good understanding about intellectual properties, particularly patents; prior working experience with patents is highly preferred
- Candidates with prior experience with 3D printing are highly preferred
